A Seal Upon Your Heart

"Set me as a seal upon your heart, as a seal upon your arm; for love is as strong as death, jealousy as cruel as the grave....Many waters cannot quench love, nor can the floods drown it.  If a man would give for love all the wealth of his house, it would be utterly despised."
-Song of Solomon 8:6a, 7
Something is about to begin, and Dr. Voddie Baucham is getting ready!
There's music in the air as Mikaela and I join in setting the beautiful,
romantic atmosphere.
Then, to a rousing theme, this manly group of eleven groomsmen
strode up the aisle.
Tiniest of flower girls, hugest of smiles!
The scene was set with the mother of the bride, bell boys' joyful ringing, and
eleven bridesmaids, elegant and stunning.
The maid of honor and the bride's sister, Cecily, was beautiful.
"Anouncing the Bridegroom!" in a reverberating voice, and then J.R. galloped across the field on his white horse, his coat floating behind him.
The bride, Amy Ellen Bradrick, took our breath away as she made the final journey
of her maidenhood on her father's arm.
This was a covenant marriage, a time for this young couple to dedicate their lives wholly to God.
In heartfelt prayer, we lifted our desire to God that they would have a blessed marriage, many children, and mightily advance Christ's Kingdom!
Three of the bride's brothers--Stephen, Peter, and Phillip.
Saved for each other in purity, the first kiss of this couple was truly their very first kiss,
and it was a priceless, precious moment not to be traded
for anything!
"Introducing Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Haas!"
After a beautiful, God-honoring courtship, Amy Ellen and J.R are enjoying their
new marriage!
With the ceremony over, it was time for the festivities to begin!  One of the most
delightful aspects of the weekend was getting to see old friends again and to meet new ones.
We were thrilled to get to see Trey and Mr. Baucham again, but were equally thrilled to meet Mrs. Baucham and all the adorable little Baucham boys.  As you can see, there were almost enough cute babies to go around!
Clockwise from top left: Mama with Mrs. G; Loyal B.--in the running for the cutest baby there;  me, Trey, Elijah, and Mikaela; Cassie and me.
All the wee ones and even some not so wee ones flocked to the hay rides!
They have to leave already?  Check out the eyes on the windshield of that snazzy car!
We saw the new couple off with bubbles, waves, smiles, and tears.
We have known Amy Ellen for 18 years, and it was such a joy to see her and J.R
so incredibly happy in God and each other!
Fellowship with friends!
And now...English Country line dancing!  This was our first introduction to this sort of thing,
and all four of us girls and Micah were thrilled to join in.  The dances weren't difficult--
we had a fabulous dance caller and patient partners!  Susanna is shown here sashaying down the center during the Virginia Reel!
After gleefully completing one dance, we were informed that it was the very one
that Mr. Collins danced with Lizzie in Pride and Prejudice.  Insert groans here!
Dakota is attempting to teach us a very complicated dance step, just for fun.
I had to check my feet to make certain that I did actually have a right foot.  (-:
The sun is setting, the breeze is wafting, the chinese lanterns are lit, the scent of fresh hay fills the rustic barn, the music is cued--the dancers are ready!
Whirling, twirling, laughing, clapping.
Susanna's expression sums it up--have we ever had such a
delightful, enchanting day?

"Let them praise His name with the dance;
Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
For the Lord takes pleasure in His people;
He will beautify the humble with salvation."
-Psalm 149:3-4

  1. O! O! Looks like such a blast! :) What a cool wedding (especially riding in on a white horse - that was brilliant! :), and so fun you guys got to dance!
Btw, I recognize the material of Susanna's dress...did she know it's the same as that one dress she liked of mine? :D
    Luv u!

  2. I knew you'd appreciate the white horse, as well as the dancing--it was such a lovely day!
Funny you should mention Susanna's fabric...she *so* wanted the pattern that your dress is made out of, but it was gone, and as she was sadly combing the aisles, new pattern in hand, she spotted that fabric and was over the moon because at least it was the fabric you had used! (-:

  3. Whoa, this is the second post I've seen today about this wedding, and the first was by some very dear friends of mine who were at the wedding also...do you by any chance happen to know the Wolf family/girls??

The Bradricks seem like such a neat family; I've met Andy (who lives in MN) and Peter, and they were both very kind and down-to-earth.

Anyway, looks like you guys had a great time!
I also noticed Susanna's dress right away--it is so adorable!!

    love! Kelsey :o)

  5. Wow...totally romantic and beautiful...an ideal wedding in my opinion! I, too, am in love with the white horse idea, and the line dancing is so neat! I've always said that one day, I'll do those steps perfectly, but who knows...I'm content for now looking at other people doing them!

  6. Kelsey--Maybe it was the wedding of the week instead of Chelsea Clinton's!(-; Actually, we did get to meet the Wolf girls briefly at the wedding--that's neat that they are friends of yours! In some random, illogical way, you could could sort of kind of almost argue that we've met now! (-: I'll pass your compliment on to Susanna!
Kate--What a blessing your comment was to both of us! I cannot tell you the joy it brought me to read your words that God has perhaps blessed you through us! I so appreciate your message. And what a pleasure it is to get to "meet" a dear sister in Christ in another country!
Elyse--Yes, it was an ideal wedding, really! And if you ever get the opportunity to try this sort of dancing-- DO IT--you will love it! (-: I can just see white horses cropping up at weddings around the country... Thanks for your comment!

  7. Did you girls meet my daughter, Jordan Comeaux, who attended from Houston? She was behind a camera most of the time. She's more comfortable behind the camera and listening to others than speaking to a lot of people she doesn't yet know. Amy Ellen stayed in our home a few times when she came to Houston during the courtship and engagement. We are very much looking forward to having her with us here at Grace Family Baptist on a "permanent" basis. Thanks for all your beautiful photos. We have so enjoyed them!

  8. Comeaux Family--Yes, we did get to meet Jordan! It was so fun to get to talk to her and get to know some of the people from TX that Amy Ellen will be living near! I'm sad that you are "stealing" her from us, but excited for God's plans for Amy and JR.
God bless, and tell Jordan hi!

  9. It looks like you guys had a blast at the wedding! We just had a wedding recently in our church too. They are so much fun to just be able to enjoy eachother and to dance and sing! I thought it was neat what you said about it being their very first kiss and being in purity before God, because we believe the very same thing that a man and women should not kiss before marriage in order to stand in purity towards eachother.
Well, looks like lots of fun!

  10. That dancing sounds like great fun, personally, I am a big fan of Pride and Predjudice...I've always wanted to try one of those dances.
Sounds like the whole thing was a wonderful experience!

  11. I too am a Pride and Prejudice fan. Can I ask what you have against it?

  12. Anonymous--Oh, we have nothing against Pride and Prejudice, I assure you! The reason we groaned was because the dance in the movie involved one of the more despicable characters in the story--Mr. Collins. Thus, you see, though it was a charming dance, it was somewhat tainted by Mr. Collins' unpleasant character.
