We forget so quickly what we've learned (Israelites, anyone?), so I definitely agree with you on being encouraged by reminding myself of what God has taught me.Mikaelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07861115573554594526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-13777207059585010692013-01-09T14:11:50.434-08:002013-01-09T14:11:50.434-08:00Do look into David Brainerd--he was an amazing you...Do look into David Brainerd--he was an amazing young man in the 1700s who died quite young, but still made an impact for God. What precious documentation your grandfather has given his family. That is so neat to hear!Mikaelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07861115573554594526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-37718486977447195532013-01-09T14:09:53.052-08:002013-01-09T14:09:53.052-08:00You're welcome, Purity Leigh! Thanks for shari...You're welcome, Purity Leigh! Thanks for sharing your journaling story as well. I agree that journaling with a focus on boys or a future husband can be very unproductive and unhealthy for us. We struggle enough with thinking about those things without dedicating an entire book to the subject!Mikaelahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07861115573554594526noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-41145282761364183712013-01-09T08:29:44.534-08:002013-01-09T08:29:44.534-08:00I enjoyed reading those entries! :) I do keep a jo...I enjoyed reading those entries! :) I do keep a journal - and have been much more faithful within the last few years (as opposed to - before :), but my reasons for keeping one are slightly different. I feel like my journal is my notebook in the classroom of life - I try to keep notes on everything I've learned! Plus, it is encouraging to go back and read through the entries, and see where all God has taken me.
Thanks for the post!SarahJaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15465954030773502482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-9685825747867104732013-01-05T21:49:59.076-08:002013-01-05T21:49:59.076-08:00I have kept one on and off, but have just started ...I have kept one on and off, but have just started it up again. I should look into David Brainerd; I've heard the name a few times but don't really know who he is. I just need to make the time to write. My Grandad has written in his diary every. single. day for at least 50 years straight. I love that there is that record of his life, and of my Dad's life, that will be there forever. So if I want that for myself, I should be starting now!Jesshttp://www.jessicaletchford.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-47464150462015871822013-01-03T22:42:09.191-08:002013-01-03T22:42:09.191-08:00I keep a journal, though not as diligently as some...I keep a journal, though not as diligently as some people might. I started to keep one when I was about ten or eleven and I will admit that it wasn't what my journal is today. I mainly started out telling my secrets but it ended up having mostly drawings in it. Then when I reached the age of thirteen I started to get interested in boys more, and I would write a lot about who I had a crush on and such. Very childish I must admit and unhealthy for me emotionally. But now I try to keep a daily record of my life, my thoughts and feelings, my spiritual growth, and yes, sometimes that struggles I have with keeping pure and focusing on Christ instead of the boy issue. I write because I do want to have something to pass down to my children. At one point I even tried to write from the perspective of giving the journal to my husband, but that thought has long since been washed down the drain. I think it was making me think about that point in my life more than I should have been. So now, like I said, I just write for my children, or whoever finds it and reads it I suppose. :)
I'm actually quite surprised, but pleased, that you shared some of your journal here on the blog. Not many girls would do that. I enjoyed reading many of the entries. Thank you!
Blessings,
Purity LeighBethanyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17200913436936627559noreply@blogger.com
