The heart of my post was to avoid isolation and insulation. Helping widows, orphans, doing ministry, serving, and volunteering are some of most amazing things single women could do, and I count it a privilege to involve myself in some of these ways. I am happy, satisfied, and very busy here where God has me!Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01275901948825550198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-66701205853191380412015-03-21T20:16:44.355-07:002015-03-21T20:16:44.355-07:00Have you thought of preparing for a career of some...Have you thought of preparing for a career of some kind? Or becoming involved in your community doing volunteer work? We (all of us) are commanded to help widows and orphans, for example. I think you would be happier and feel more accomplished if you were involved in your community to a greater extent.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-91435525805057425502015-03-20T10:32:33.456-07:002015-03-20T10:32:33.456-07:00Hi Sarah! The beautiful part of being a Christ-follower is that He gives direction and grace for each step of the way. That said, the scheduling part of me wants to have my 20 year plan all mapped out right now! And while planning and goal-setting are fantastic, in my case my weakness is wanting to take too much control instead of letting God lead.
Right now and for the near future God has me home in my singleness, and I know this is definitely the ideal place for me.
There could always be different circumstances in which God might move me elsewhere in the future, but certain parameters would not change (like not isolating or insulating myself, as I discussed above!), and right now, I am blessed to be home!Laurenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01275901948825550198noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-43648055668241812292015-03-20T10:24:00.139-07:002015-03-20T10:24:00.139-07:00Thanks, Pastor Scott! Will you still live in your parents house with your siblings and teach piano, or would you do something else? It's really easy to feel like I ought to own my time, my priorities, my activities...and then I John tells us that all we "ought" to do is lay down our lives for those around us. It's such hard work to identify all the rights we feel like we deserve, and then giving them up is even harder. And yet, what kind of beautiful, fulfilling reward we receive, as letting go of our desires causes us to hear our Savior's more clearly! This is definitely something I need to work on...SarahJaynehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15465954030773502482noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-77148451609418358422015-03-18T22:59:52.083-07:002015-03-18T22:59:52.083-07:00Thank you so much for the timely post, Lauren. What perfect training ground God has for us in our families right now to learn this selflessness that He desires for us to have. It is so true that God has each of us right where He needs us in order to bring Him the greatest glory. If singleness is where He has us, then we can bring Him glory through that-- I want to be ready to serve Him in whatever capacity He sees fit for me right now, and throughout my life. Embrace where He has me! When (IF) He will be greater glorified through marriage in my life later down the road, then He has NO problem bringing that about... in HIS timing!

Thank you again for the post-- it really spoke to me!

Blessings to you,
AmandaFour Young Ladies at Homehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06894874531649970583noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-545442826180448050.post-50961849526806688832015-03-18T12:10:59.926-07:002015-03-18T12:10:59.926-07:00Great post, Lauren!
